What Makes Mother Fool’s Different?

Mother Fool’s pushes the definition of the coffee shop into more of a market for artists and enthusiasts. Aside from grabbing some caffeinated beverages, sweets, and pastries, you can also purchase produce, cooking and baking, groceries, spices, household and cleaning supplies, art, and lifestyle accessories! Mother Fool’s Coffeehouse website has a category dedicated to your favorites as well as their new items and closeouts!

How Did the Fool Get Their Start?

Mother Fool’s was founded by Jean Lister in the spring of 1994. Jon Hain and Stephanie Rearick’s band, Your Mom SRO, played a show at Mother Fool’s welcoming and neighborly environment that same year. In June of 1995, Lister sold the coffee shop to Rearick and Hain. For fans of live music, stop out on Friday and Saturday nights! Every month, show your support to artists on the rise at their open mic with a new musician each time! The best part about Mother Fool’s is they serve Colectivo coffee and baked goods from East Side Ovens hailing from Milwaukee. Vegans rejoice, as all East Side Ovens excellent pastries are vegan and some are even gluten-free! Maybe you’d rather have a cup or bowl of soup from The Green Owl Cafe, proudly served at Mother Fool’s. If you’re fixing for Kombucha, satisfy your cravings with Nessalla’s made right here in Madison, too!

The Mother’s Vision

Mother Fool’s goal is to inform people that scrumptious food can be made without animal products. Mother Fool’s is passionate about explaining the negative impact of fish food. Read their menu statement to learn how fish food is ruining the ocean’s ecosystem and enslaving humans in Thailand. If you or someone you know would be interested in painting a mural for Mother Fool’s everchanging graffiti wall, you can call Billy at 608-217-6874 or speak with Rob at 608-212-9103.

The Mother’s Community Impact

COVID-19 has forced Mother Fool’s to cut back to five days a week at reduced hours, the “neighborhood art and community stronghold” needs your help to keep their doors open. You can donate to their GoFundMe to help them reach their $20,000 goal. Supporters have currently raised $7,685, let’s keep it going!
