Demetral Park spans an impressive fifty acres with bathrooms and potable water. Next to East High School, Demetral Park has a basketball court, volleyball court, playground, softball diamond, ultimate frisbee field, a large field to spread out, and even a pavilion available for reservation for your next party or event. Be sure to acquire a Dog Park Permit prior to bringing your dog out to play. You can purchase a dog park permit for the day or year at the City of Madison’s website.
McCormick Park

Walk Northeast on Main street to First Street and turn left. In four blocks, hang a right at East Johnson Street. After eleven blocks, turn left onto North Lawn Avenue. In two blocks, turn right at Commercial Avenue and McCormick park will be on the left immediately after crossing over the Starkweather Creek. This quaint little dog park is just under half an acre, but it’s a cozy off-leash dog park not too far from the main drag. Be sure to bring plenty of water for you and your pup as well as be sure to use the bathroom before you head out unless you intend to squat like your dog in the grass. Keep your eyes peeled for Madison’s “Permit Free Day” occurring annually, normally in June!
Brittingham Dog Park

Only six blocks Southwest of the Capitol building, Brittingham Park is along the shoreline of Lake Monona. If you walk Southwest on Washington Avenue towards the State Capitol, you can turn left at Webster Street before turning right again at Doty Street. From Doty, all you have to do is continue walking South for six blocks until you turn left again at North Broom Street. After two blocks, you’ll find Brittingham Park on your right, perched next to John Nolen Drive. At Brittingham Dog Park, your pup can enjoy the low-impact of synthetic turn added in 2019 and a drinking fountain equipped with an ADA arm and bowl. While there is no shelter at this 0.36 acre park, there is fencing, benches, and even a bag dispenser in case you forget yours at home.
Warner Park

If you follow Main Street to First Street, turn left and then turn left again at Johnson Street. Immediately turn right onto Fordem Avenue and follow that North for nine blocks until you see Mac Pherson Street. Turn left at Mac Pherson Street and then turn right again in four blocks at Sheridian Drive. Sheridian Drive will wind a leave you at a “t” intersection, turn right onto Woodward Drive. While the park does provide a fence, bag dispenser, and benches, you will still want to stock up on plenty of water before heading out to the expansive thirty seven acre park. It would be wise to check the weather as well before making your way to Warner as there is no shelter to wait out the storm in the event it rains. Sycamore Park

The almost twenty acre park provides doggy bag dispensers, however it is recommended you bring your own in case someone else snags the last bag before you. You will once again need to bring your own water to drink and a doggy bowl, but there is a shelter and benches to kick back in case of unforeseen weather. The park is enclosed by a fence so you don’t have to worry about your pooch running off on you. Be sure to stay up to date with the Sycamore Park Parking Lot Replacement as the park will be closed for two weeks during the 2021 summer.
