Festival’s Mission

For over seventy years, Festival Foods has been serving its communities by providing exceptional food products and creating an extraordinary shopping experience for customers. At Festival, they make their decisions with one question in mind, “Will it bring the customer back?” That’s why employees don’t look at customers as consumers in a store, but as guests in their home. The goal is to make sure all guests receive the care they deserve to make sure employees are rising above guests’ assumptions.

Festival’s Past

For thirty-three years, between 1946 to 1979, Paul Skogen purchased a collection of stores. Upon Paul’s death in 1976, his son Dave, and his wife Barb, along with her brothers, Gary and Tom, took over the responsibility of company operations. When the Skogens started to notice a change in the way consumers purchased goods, they knew they needed to make a change to keep the stores open. The very first Festival Foods store was opened on June 29, 1990, in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Two years later, Dave’s son, Mark, was put on full-time after completion of college. The father-son team expanded Festival Foods across the state with five new locations in Marshfield, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, and Holmen. In 2006, Mark took over the roles of both Chief Executive Officer and President and continues to hold the positions to this day. Currently, there are thirty-five Festival Foods within the state of Wisconsin.

Festival’s Future

Festival strives to hire employees that are passionate about people and give them a pleasant experience in their clean stores. With the five founding principles of servant leadership, execution, community involvement, associate development, and service, Festival Foods intends to lead the charge and hold the title of Wisconsin’s greatest grocery store.
