Alumni Boardshop

Life at The Marling
Discover Madison

About three-quarters of a mile Southwest from The Marling is Alumni Boardshop. Head West on Washington Avenue and turn left at Dickinson Street. You can turn right onto Main Street and cut over to Baldwin if you’re walking or biking, but if you’re driving, you’re better off taking Dickinson down to Williamson Street and then turning right.

At the intersection of Few Street and Williamson Street, it’ll be right across the Dane County TimeBank, diagonal from Weary Traveler Freehouse. Founded in 2005 by Derek Apel, the skate shop has become a city staple. Just three blocks away from the Madison Skatepark, Alumni’s location is perfect should your shred-sled need any maintenance or repairs, or even if you want to stop in and say what’s up.

Furthermore, Alumni was one of sixteen sponsors that made the Madison Skatepark a reality on September 10th, 2010. Since then, alumni have gone on to release multiple videos. “Be Nice” dropped in 2017, followed by a two-part b-sides video, part one released in 2018 and part two in 2019, with their latest being the “Alumni 2020” and “Ian Sweeney 2020 Part,” which can all be found on the Alumni website and clicking on the “VIDEO” button.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Madison-based WNTR skate crew, dropping three videos in the last six months! Featuring mind-blowing maneuvers from Will Morty, LJ Falk, Dave Green, Blake Lamb, and others!
