What is “EVP?”
“EVP” is short for “Etes-vous prets?” which is French for “Are you ready?” The phrase was initially used during rowing competitions to make sure all the athletes were ready at the start. EVP is a female-fronted, stand-alone, local business that started its journey on Madison’s Highland Avenue in October 1997. With twenty-three years of experience under their belt, EVP now has four storefronts and annually roasts forty thousand pounds of coffee! The philosophy of EVP is, “to serve all people beautifully, and in the spirit of kindness and love.” Employers and employees alike seek to cultivate a work environment and business reputation founded on these principles.
Life in Alaska
Before establishing EVP, owner Tracy Danner worked as a substance abuse counselor in Anchorage, Alaska where she grew up. Danner wanted to change her occupation to a less stressful work environment, but she still wanted to positively impact her community. It was with this question of reflection when the idea of EVP came to her. Danner never wanted to “make coffee” for people, she wanted to show people that she cared about them by making a business that is centered on love and kindness. EVP roasts coffee every day and either serve it the same day or within a few days. What separates EVP from the rest is the fact they date their beans, so customers can see firsthand when they were roasted. EVP beans are available for purchase online and at their four locations.
