O’Keeffe Middle School strives to prepare all its students for higher education, a career path, and to be active members in their community. With a “vibrant, diverse, and accepting east side community” the teachers and faculty are dedicated to giving pupils the best education they can while simultaneously creating a safe and comfortable learning environment. The school strongly backs its statement of teachers, pupils, and the community coming together as one to grasp the greatest academic success and largest engagement possible. The O’Keeffe community will not tolerate any educational inequities due to race, which is why they base their collaboration and choices so each individual can rise to become the person they were born to be. O’Keeffe has developed a reputation for outstanding academic achievement.

Preparing Pupils for the Future

With that in mind, teachers hold their students to a high expectation by providing a precise curriculum with an “increase on data-driven instruction” so children pass into high school prepared. The staff at O’Keeffe aimed their efforts on students’ literacy skills combined with a broad range of teaching methods to be able to cater to all learning types during the 2018-2019 school year. O’Keeffe intends to strengthen students’ reading and math comprehension as well as building an environment where “all students feel a deep sense of belonging.” O’Keeffe wishes to see their students pass into high school with “a growth mindset, interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and community connection” so when they do walk the stage at their high school graduation, they are, “college, career, and community ready.”
